The Council District 9 Neighborhood City Hall in South Central Los Angeles was designed by architect Paul Murdoch and incorporates many sustainable features into its design and is a Leed certified building. A drought tolerant rooftop garden helps mitigate storm runoff as well as urban heat island effects, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.  A 7,000 gallon underground cistern collects rainwater for re-usable irrigation.
